Broadway Theatre League of South Bend, Inc.
of Matching Funds Remaining
Founded in 1959, Broadway Theatre League is best known for bringing the Broadway Series of nationally touring shows to the Morris Performing Arts Center. The revenue generated by this operation provides the financial resources to fulfill our mission: Mentoring performance arts—primarily, but not exclusively, theatrical—in the community. While we are best known for these shows, we are hard at work “backstage” expanding our Education, Outreach and Scholarship programs in order to enhance the theater experience for younger generations. Through Inspire Early, our Outreach and Education Program, we work with area schools teaching the wonders of theater, including respect and etiquette, behind-the-scenes needs, production, and of course performance. We help support and promote local high schools and non-profit community theaters with their productions, and provide ticket subsidies enabling young people who might not otherwise be able to experience the excitement of live theater in person. The BTL Anita Boorda Memorial Scholarship provides college financial assistance to three aspiring and accomplished high-school graduates as they further their Performing Arts education. Additionally, financial assistance is provided for qualifying students attending IUSB. Live theater provides entertainment and enjoyment to all who experience it, and at Broadway Theatre League we are proud of our role in bringing smiles to tens of thousands of Michiana residents each year.
Broadway Theatre League will use the funds raised through Give Local St. Joseph County to expand our Education, Outreach and Scholarship programs, allowing us to positively impact more schoolchildren, provide more substantial scholarships, and broaden our reach in order to spread the joy of live theater throughout our community.
