Rebuilding Together of St. Joseph County
of Matching Funds Remaining
Rebuilding Together is a nonprofit, community-based partnership of volunteers from local government, businesses, and other nonprofits, that rehabilitate the homes of low-income elderly and often disabled homeowners. On two April Saturdays each year, approximately 1,000 skilled and unskilled volunteers join together to make repairs to about 20 homes in a selected St. Joseph County neighborhood. All repairs are completed at no cost to the homeowner. Since 1989, Rebuilding Together St. Joseph County has had nearly 40,000 volunteers donate their time and skills to rehabilitate 866 homes, with repairs valued at over $11 million. “Rebuilding Together is a truly transformational program. Our volunteers from both the local trades and other organizations in the community make a life changing impact for homeowners. From new roofs to handrail installations, these repairs and upgrades allow seniors and others to have a better quality of life for years to come.” --Jim Scheetz, President of Rebuilding Together St. Joseph County.
Rebuilding Together St. Joseph County will use funds raised through Give Local SJC to make much needed home improvements for the limited income elderly and disable homeowners. These repairs include energy efficient upgrades and new roofs, windows, water heaters, furnaces and interior and exterior painting.
